    Default Top 10(ish) Heavy Metal

Following from this thread What are your top tracks of the genre? (please only list tracks that are proven to actually work in a mobile disco situation & not just because they are of a certain genre. Also must be suitable for all ages)

It doesn't matter if you post a track that somebody else has, the idea is to find good useable tracks of the genre that are proven to work for mobile DJs

Please Stick to the specific genre in the thread title

Make the lists as long as you like as long as they are useable

    Steve

Delete this after if you like, but can you define the difference between rock and metal as some of it appears to cross over between the 2.

i would class as rock.... to me also rock is gonna be a hard one to do as you gonna have so many diff classes of rock (ie :- prog rock) probally best to that in years (60s,70s,80s,90s) but we will see what steve coems up with

Perhaps you could help with this or start a new thread on it?

I am always slightly confused with the differences

Just looking at your list, I would have said that The Cult and Motorhead were heavy rock rather than metal, although I'm sure you'll put me straight!

a difficult one and one that many peopel would argue about but for me

Motorhead (in the 80s) was classed as metal and as such certain songs could be in that class. altho songs like louie louie is deffo rock.

I i think most peopel will agree Motorhead was the start of heavy metal (but then vardis were the fasted playing band around at that time. I was lucky enough to be at a concert were they were recorded at playing at 100mph!!!! but are only a rock band)

as for the culy your right that one just slipped thru - I would class them as alternative rock

Also to complicate thing more, some metal/heavy rock bands sometimes play ballads, does that mean its a metal song or not , like scorpions - wind of change?
