Yeah, your probably right - again that was tame. Two led par can's 64, few led lights, kam laser, storm birds...nothing to get worried about.

You're talking about Non-Lethal Weapons here and, believe me, your Mackies ain't gonna come close no matter how bad the sound is!

Low frequencies are far more likely to make somebody ill, although I believe that it would have to be considerably lower than that given off by your average disco system.

Having studied modern warfare and including the aforementioned Non-Lethal Weapons I would actually disagree. The really dangerous frequencies used in this type of warfare are "ultrasonic" which is defined as "Sound whose frequency is above the upper limit of the range of human hearing (approximately 20 kilohertz)". Steady projection of sound at these frequencies can cause nausea, sickness, severe headaches, nosebleeds, burst eardrums to name a few systems. The so-called "Sonic Gun" uses these frequencies at a lower concentration to disorientate the target by making his eyeballs vibrate! Ouch!

Oh, and the term Non-Lethal Weapons is a bit misleading as this technology has been known to kill!

But I'd still be suprised if Mackies can produce this effect!

P.S I was told this as part of an amusing acoustics lesson where we discussed using sound as a weapon and i'm sure a fair amount of creative licence was involved! Tony A1 could perhaps enlighten us as to the exact facts?

It's definately real and has been used as a weapon by the British Military since the 90s.

But I don't think Charlie's insurance company has much to fear!

It's probably just that he's not used to proper HF compression drivers, I believe up till now he's only used peizos....
