I had a load of glowsticks in the van and I nipped out to it just after I had set up because I had left my phone in there. I grabbed a couple of tubes and gave them to the lady that had booked me. She thanked me and literally, 30 minutes later all the girls were wearing them!

Saturday 27 Nov, kids party/Karaoke with John ( Twinspin). Interesting load in, car park doubled as a skating rink, and enough karaoke requests to keep going till next week. Ask John what PA system we used. For various reasons, we used one of mine. The most compelling one was that it was lighter and easier. We were very rushed to set up, and I couldn't get John's Behringer mixer to do what I wanted. Having put it aside, I found that my Phonic would do everythin we needed, with the only thing missing being kill switches on the punter's mics. A big big shame. Valuable information gained here, which will stand us in good stead on New Year's Day. It's a learning curve, this game.

Just been to my local wmc for a few beers where I am kind oif resident.

The 60 quid sid DJ tonight had beat me in responding to an enquiry because I was away on business (lessons learnt there!)

Now I like to think that I am of course biased, but the majority of the music was 60s and there was very little dancing until 1130l
.
This was for a 30th birthday

The confiirmatiion came when a chap whod had his 40th with the said DJ the week before asked me for my card. He obviously knew who is was and what to expect even though I don't know the guy

So overall bad gig leads to good gig :-)

I was looking forward to this weekend and I have to say that I am a tad disappointed to be honest.

Friday was good, very good infact. I was in my local doing my Request Fest night and the pub was busy. A friend of mine was having his 40th birthday party on saturday and a lot of people had travelled from allover the place so he was in there for pre-party drinks on friday and I was showered with requests for 80's stuff and mid-80s / early 90s Indie/Alternative tunes which was great. A really good atmosphere. The only thing that let it down was the pair of Mackies (V1's) that I borrowed from the shop I got mine from (until my replacement comes on wednesday). One side seemed to be lacking bass completely but it was amazing that no'one noticed and one side seemed to cater quite easily.

My mate who was having the 40th asked me if I'd do his party on the saturday months ago but never actually got round to confirming so I took another booking. Last night was a joint 40th for 2 girls that I knew through another friend. A potentially blinding night was on the cards going by the playlist they gave me (Funk, Disco, Northern Soul, Ska, Indie, Alternative and NO Cheese!). It was a 7.00pm - 11.30pm gig and it was around 8.30pm that people actually started getting up to dance. 150 invited, lots of money spent on decorating the venue, a lovely buffet and lots of champagne and around 70 people turned up (if that?).

When I set up in the afternoon I thought I would try the Mackies again to see if it was just something I was doing wrong but it wasn't and I was gutted. I am totally losing faith in the brand at the moment and if my replacement isn't good enough then I will be looking elsewhere. Anyway, the rest of the night was ok, nothing special but the birthday girls had a great time.

One of those gigs where you think personally that it wasn't great but as long as they are happy, that's all that matters.

I dont carry spare speakers for the reason you state.

Hope your new Mackies sound ok==for that kind of money it needs to be right.
