Saturday 27 Nov, kids party/Karaoke with John ( Twinspin). Interesting load in, car park doubled as a skating rink, and enough karaoke requests to keep going till next week. Ask John what PA system we used. For various reasons, we used one of mine. The most compelling one was that it was lighter and easier. We were very rushed to set up, and I couldn't get John's Behringer mixer to do what I wanted. Having put it aside, I found that my Phonic would do everythin we needed, with the only thing missing being kill switches on the punter's mics. A big big shame. Valuable information gained here, which will stand us in good stead on New Year's Day. It's a learning curve, this game.

You know the XLR leads that come from the mixer into my mixer last night. We could plug the Xenyx into them instead and use the amp on the phonic and use the xenyx to control everything including the mics consoles and karaoke player. That way it we could make use of both as well as having the kill switches on the mics.

The event was at my local club (surprise surprise ) , a local lady has her own`s cleaning company , so it was a works do as to speak.
It was one of those nights that every thing went well , no glitches from the rig , just the odd tweak on the EQ.

Disco from 7:00 until 9:00 , Karaoke for an hour , and disco from 10:00 until midnight ( new club rules , all events apart from NYE , to be finished by midnight) , and I was handed a playlist of 103 songs .
Still I had folk's dancing all evening , even during karaoke , I tend to have a now CD to fill in gaps in the karaoke.
No trouble , everyone enjoyed themselves , so a good night.. .
I am there next week for the Harting club xmas extravaganza , and guess who`s playing father Christmas.

Last nights gig was pretty special. I was so charged I couldn't get to sleep when I came home. Local Hotel for a Christmas Party for 245 guests. I was playing BG music until 10ish and I had a rather large table from H&M in who were young and well up for it. I opened with Rihanna - Only Girl. For an instantly filled, bumping dancefloor. It was an installation gig for an old friend who has the contract. The lighting rig alone cost over 10k comprising of Martin Mac 250's and Wizards, which he put out x 6 last night for his residencies. I NEED to start saving for those badboys, he had custom gobos with his logo and it looked really good.

The only down was having to put up with quiet a few drunk, attractive ladies distracting/hassling me for inappropriate DUBSTEP requests, I was literally fighting them off at one stage it must of been the bow tie!!

Doubt I'll top the night this season, just like my nightclub days

Just to add - I clocked a number of young-ish guys last night who I expected to be pains. They were quite loud and rowdy and most of them had 2 pints each in their hands. They were hanging around the dancefloor watching the ladies in their short dresses etc dancing around. They kind of looked out of place as it didn't look like they had made much effort in their appearence.

One came over and asked for 'Chelsea Dagger'. Later on in the evening I played it alongside Kings of Leon, Killers, Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams etc and they were mad for it. I've noticed this year already that these particular ones are being requested a lot and it's great because it's a good 20 minutes worth of stuff that keeps the dancefloor busy. They loved it and even thanked me. One said "Cheers Disco Dave, top notch!"...I couldn't be bothered to say anything about the Disco Dave bit because they enjoyed themselves and that's what matters.

Generally, in a humurous way...yes, I would. It's usually something like "Nah, that's my mate...I'm Gary".

I don't like it but I don't get narked about it if that's what you think. However, I must admit, I don't like the perception though because it sounds like an insult no matter how it is said.

Spent last 2 nights at Forest Of Arden.Glad it was down stairs for both Parties.
Party on the friday started at 7 and finished at 1.It was themed around James Bond and had casio tables.I had a good night althou there was only 28 guests but most stopped till the end.
Saturday night it was in the larger room and around 130 guests.Started at 7 and finished at 1. They started food at 8 but did not finish till just after 10.It started slow but as the night went on it got better.In The last 10 mins we had a sing off between men and women. The women won.
Overall excellent weekend but need bed.
