Far from it although I wish it was!

I just had a brain block and couldn't remember any songs and my mic/getting everyone in the mood skills sucked. I also didn't realise how many thousands of songs I had managed to delete from my iTunes.

It's left me feeling a bit 'meeehh'. I have ignored the phone today too. It's left me that flat, I feel like selling all the gear!

Well this Week in a round up..

Prom Fair Thursday - Complete waste of time and money did not speak to one decision maker.

Friday 30th Birthday - First couple of hours a bit boring but she wanted the last couple of hours Old Skool Piano tunes so had a wale of a time blasting some classics

Saturday 21st Birthday Party Wanted Dubstep r&b and bassline. only 20 people were there all night.. 3 people over 21 the rest young.. They had a great time was not expecting dancers, but as always some woman knew best "play some 80's and get them all dancing) so I asked her which type of 80's because its a massive era with over 20 music styles and she said play a mixture lol (I would have played one song if she asked for it but not a mixture) the birthday boy specifically said nothing other than the above.. did not play an 80's song so could not prove her right or wrong anyway but I know knowone would have danced and the 21 year olds would have moaned because they liked the dirty dance music.

Sunday afternoon christening.. Had loads of fun and made me think of advertising kids parties again.. Found a formula that worked.. Played 2 dancing games with the kids. Had them singing to nelly the elephant and old mac donald and a couple more songs. Taught them how to do the music man, superman, YMCA, cha cha slide. Played a few ball/hoopla games and then sat them all in a corner colouring in and glueing shapes to fish.

Dead easy set the music on auto pilot and just kept the kids out of the way of the parents so they could enjoy the afternoon without the kids..

Gave out loads of business cards on all 3 events and I actually preferred them all to weddings. So much less pressure and much more relaxed everyone was satisfied with the job done so all round great weekend.

Another great night last night.It was a 6oth birthday party in a bowling club.It was also my first outing with the mackie thumps.The birthday girl was a rock chick so there was a lot of air guitar style tunes played.Bands like thin lizzy,deep purple,rolling stones,lynard skinnard.status quo and meatloaf.

I did a Wedding last night in a large hall around 5 minutes away from where I live. Visited the hall last week and noticed that there was a traffic light system on the wall. Wasn't too impressed at first as I had been there a long time ago before the place was refurbished and there wasn't one. Chatted to the caretaker who informed me that it doesn't actually work and hasn't done for at least 2 years!

Young couple in late 20's. Both into their Alternative stuff. Lots of kids asking for recent chart stuff. Did a mixture of 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s with lots of Indie /Rock & Alternative.

One of those functions where there were handfuls of people dancing every now and then. It wasn't really consistent all evening. Bride and Groom were very happy and got lots of compliments but I came away thinking that it was pretty mediocre. The set up looked great though and I only had my phone to take photos which none are worthy of uploading and sharing. I was able to use smoke and the little LED Sparkle lights from ADJ looked really cool for the first dance along with the Lilac Uplighting.

I've been booked again to do the Grooms 30th in November and I also got asked if I could do a 50th in October on the strength of me playing a few Ska / Two Tone tracks for a lady.

An 'ok' night in my opinion.

I made my first technical error in a long time last night....forgotten how awful that feels. I'd done a PFL with a track I don't play that often, and forgot to reset it to the cue point before pressing go, so it started mid-track. Gutted!

After a Christmas of feeling, well, like Gary has described above, I've hit a pretty good run at the minute. Save a couple of odd post-Xmas parties in January, I've felt pretty good about every gig I've done.

Everyone in the room (who actually noticed) has forgotten it happened after about 5 seconds - everyone apart from the DJ! Start worrying when you don't care about the mistakes any more.
