Unfortunately there isn't a booth so drunken punters have easy access to me lol
Apart from that i love it, i just wish there was less touching

also people constantly put their drinks on my set up table. instant anger!

Hmm, despite doing a bi-weekly residency in a club, that's not a problem I've ever had. The closest I've ever got is one particular drunk punter who comes over at the end of most of the nights I'm in there and says...

"You're a GREAT DJ, but ewwww..."

Married with 4 kids - the only opinion that matters is the music...

Ironically both of the times I've taken my wife into the club to take requests and give me ideas, she's picked up two phone numbers each time!

Joking aside, in the nineties I did a venue that had regular "ladies" (yeah....ladies my arse!) nights, drag act, couple of male strippers and me. After these she-devils had poured a load of cheap Hooch or Two Dogs or whatever the alcopop of choice was and got all worked up with the strippers, it was an absolute nightmare, constantly getting mauled or grabbed while you're trying to work. No thanks...on more than one occasion I had to have a couple of them thrown out.

Lauren, it's a cross some of us have to bear. John and I carry a big stick for beating them off with when we work together, as the constant attentions of our admirers can get to be tiresome. ( Forum members who have met us in the flesh are now choking on their cornflakes, and muttering things like " In your dreams" )

OK, Saturday Night. As stated, it involved a trip of nearly thre hundred yards to a neighbour's barn, which had been fully lined, and looked superb. I got in first, as I knew there was a band as well, and got set up ine a corner, leaving the stage for the band. The PA chap for them turned up just after me, and was a great bloke. He had a six box HK Actor rig which had seen some action, but sounded absolutely beautiful. When the band came on, the levels were spot on. Sadly though, the band were largely ignored by the crowd, who were intent on sampling the delights of the subsidised bar. Also,even though the occasion was a 50th birthday, many of the crowd were in the 16- 18/21 age group, and more keen on the more modern music, which seemed to discourage the over-21s from taking to the dancefloor.

It was a slow start to the gig, and knowing as I did that a post 3am finish was likely, I was in no rush. My prediction was accurate, since I played the last song at 3.20 am! Par for the course for this style of gig, and no great shakes.

Music selection was at times eclectic, and partly bearing in mind the ones that John and I played the night before, my ones included Iris-Goo Goo Dolls, Faithless - Insomnia, and DJ Otzi.
My last two tracks were Sinead O'Connor - Nothing compares, and Pendulum - Propane Nightmares.


John and I played to Hull Uni Music Society on Friday, and our track selection for that ranged from Black Lace Agadoo, and Music Man, through to Skrillex and Pendulum-Slam, which had most of the room still seated at their tables, yet dancing furiously, while waiting to join the buffet queue.

That's just reminded me, Saturday night I had seated (as in seated at their tables) Oops upside your heading. Which was quite amusing to watch on a circular table. 3 rows also formed on the dance floor & a handful of mini row boats appeared dotted around the room between the tables too.

I played 'Oops...' last year at a wedding and the Bride sat on the floor and right in a small puddle of beer that had been spilt. When she got up from the floor after the song had finished, her backside was covered in brown stains...well, I hope they were beer stains. She wasn't too impressed.

had a retirement for 3 men on Saturday night. One of the 3 didnt show up and there were only 3 other men, and 45 women, all nurses

Lots of dancing and requests, great night.

Well last night I ventured across into the West Riding, to Garforth Golf Club. Even though my website is basic in the extreme, and in need of an update ( and I know just the man for the job. ) it had generated this lead, so that's good.

As with seemingly all golf clubs, entertainment is upstairs, no lift, security door, two flights of stairs, and long corridors. Whoopee! The function was a surprise 60th birthday for some nice folk, with an inordinate amount of children of varying ages. Having set the kit up, we were afforded some excellent views over the course, and a small but very nice room to work in. As you may have already guessed, I left quite a few cabs in the van, using only my trusty 12" Warriors, Powerbar and DSB. A lasr or two would have been nice, but space was tioght, and mounting them could have been tricky. The powerbar gave a lovely wash to the room anyway, so no feelings of being undergunned. 99% of my gigs now are either bar, or bar plus two lasers.

The evening was enhanced by the arrival of Davesounds, whose wife sent me a text before he left which had me in stitches! I'm not telling you what it said, but suffice to say, I was not at all surprised to see Dave arrive clutching his beloved flask. He had me in fits of laughter at his tales of his recent exploits, including where you're not permitted to play Andy Williams on religious grounds, even to test your newly installed sound system. When he tells you what he's been doing, you have to some weeks, it seems to come under the heading " You couldn't make it up". The lad gave me some valuable advice on setting my mic up, gave me the good news/bad news about my amps which are in for repair, and having drained his flsk of tea, headed home for a refill.

The gig was an early finish, music off at 11.10, and gravity helped me down the stairs. I haven't any piccies, but if we prod Dave gently, he may share some of the snaps he took, once he'd scrounged a couple of batteries from me for his camera.

Memorable night, hard work at times, but enjoyable and an early finish. My local golf club as well next week, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to see if I can modify my mini- Giraffe ( which is merely a four foot Giraffe stand with the crossbars cut down to two foot ) for this one, cos I don't fancy lugging the DSB up there. I'll keep you posted.

As i drove away about 300 yards away i was startled to be shon on by Peters German Power Bar!!! i must say its very very bright,
Peters system sounded great and was most pleasant to listen to.
Sufficient Bass and Treble BUT with a medium amount of MIDDLE thus making for a "Hi fi" sound that was of a good level to chat over rather than pinning the punters against the back wall!!!!
Peters not had much amp-luck of late! His £400 quids worth of Studiomaster has more "PROTECT" lights on than my christmas tree due to first 1 quickly followed by the remaining 50 pence cooling fan falling off its 4 mounts and ending up as a gloopy mess in the amp bottom quickly followed by his Warrior1300 soft start circuit only managing to start after it had smoudered for around 30 secods or so!!!
as i was popping over to see him i DID have a spare Chevin in the back of the car!
