Good Gig, Bad Gig.

Very easy access!
I've just been and collected the rest of my equipment and the Bride & Groom were just getting the rest of their stuff together and had family and friends tidying the hall. I got some great feedback, got asked for a couple of cards and got a bottle of bubbly too.
Now I'm going to crash for the rest of the afternoon.

Great gig last night. 350 guests, a hundred of which had traveled up from Wales. The Groom is a Marine so there was a large contingent of Marines in attendance too. Mixed bag of music thoughout the night, everything from early soul to 90's hardcore dance requested. 300 guests (including the grannies) jumping around like people possessed to Ultrasonic , TTF & QFX. Good times..lol.

Larger setup for me (compared to my usual powerbar and pair of movers).

* 5k RCF sound system (2x 525's - 2x 715's - 2x 905s).
* 2x 250s Moving heads (used for personalised monogram projection on truss towers at the start of the evening)
* 4x iMove moving heads
* 2x Vertical truss towers (comprising of four 1metre truss sections and two steel base plates)
* 1x Powerbar
* 2x InvincibLED's
* 1x RGB Laser
* 2x iRock 7B's
* 18x par56 uplighters
* 2x slim par56's for the truss towers.
* 1x DSB Micro
* 2x T Bars

Lighting control, a mixture of sound to light (via CA8's), Rackmount Hardware DMX controller, and handheld DMX controller.
* 1x iLead DMX
* 2x CA8 Controller
* 1x Greenwich Instruments DMX
* 1x Obey 4 LED controller
* 1x (can't remember the brand) LED controller.

* 1x Martin Smoke Machine

No pix unfortunately, forgot the camera. I didn't have enough room in the van for all the gear either. It was all crammed in like tetris from front to back/floor to roof. The wife had to follow me along with the laser and a pair of movers in her car, luckily the gig wasn't too far from base. Could have done with Peter and his Big Van!!. My short wheel base van (Vauxhall Vivaro) is usually fine but it was too small on this occasion.

Still, a great night, but thank god a powerbar does me for most gigs. Knackered today and my back has gone....

Well where should I start The Marquee in the middle of a field that had sloping sides al around, vehicles had to be towed out at one point. Around about a 4 minute trip from the car to the marquee across mud while it was pouring with rain.

No where for me to set up, eventually set up along the side of the dance floor after all the coats and wellys had been moved.

The band who were brilliant were meant to kick off at 8.30pm but it had been arranged for another singer to start, the band started at around 10pm and about halfway through the second song the generator tripped for the first of many times. it turned out that the one generator was feeding me the band, the caterers, the lights the heating the photobooth etc etc plus i believe several plugs were in a standing pool of water. Took about 15 mins for the tech guys to get everything back on and the band played till 12.

I started just after 12 and was very glad to say it went really well i was booked to finish at 2 and just as i was playing the final song was asked by the father of the bride to stay on till 3am which after an exchange of money i did.

Sadly i was unable to play to 3am as i was playing the penultimate track the generator failed again this time out of fuel.

I was left to pack down in the pitch black with only the light from my laptop whilst the battery lasted, and the flash light on my mobile.

I would like to say there was no more welcome sight than my wife to collect me at 3.30am still took me another 40mins to get packed down and loaded up in to the car through the quagmire. finally got home at 5am and to bed at 5.30am got up at 3pm and the worst thing about it all just gone to make a cup of coffee and the milk has curdled.

Next time someone mentions marquees im running.

Well done to the Dearly Beloved. Did you have a Roadie? Sounds like you definitely needed one. I was headed South yesterday, so couldn't have helped.

I know I'm a long way away, but it sounds like the genny was underspecced. Most of the ones I've used would have run all day and night on a fill up.

Well at least in the Good Old Days, your lighting display kept you warm. Twenty odd 100w coloured spots gave off a lot of heat.

Good Gig Dry Gig!!!
This Saturdays Gala looked like it could have been a total washout with the rain....However!!!!
I was told by the Headteacher "It will go ahead" so i set up in one of the external classrooms next to the masive playground,
all cables out through the windows
2 wireless 1 wired mike.
We had a great time , The weather held it all ran well and ....
A reebooking for next year ( At a suitably inflated price)
sorry no pics of people dancing as im sure you can imaging those!
Took a few bin liners for the speakers but they werent needed!
I ran 200 watts into 2 Rcfs and 2 small Jbls
music was laptop only for 2 majorette troups
4 sessions
1 dog trainers with music
1 street dance team with music.
The Majorettes liked it loud ( i think theyre all deaf!!)





Great time was had by all including Matty Sounds.
