Well you've all seen my late night posts.. and I've got kids who come piling in at 7am of a Saturday or Sunday morning. No lie ins for me! Wah! Sob! Woe is me! Heh.

Now that was the slowest event I've ever performed at. And one of the coolest at the same time.

I set up this morning, and arrived back at 8:30 to provide background music for a 9pm first dance.

Then it was pushed back to 9:30.

9:45 came and the evening food is about to be served. Do you mind keeping the background music going until after the buffet? It's such a nice atmosphere. Sure, why not? Looks like this bunch are loving MoS Sunset Soul.

At 10:45, the first dance is ready to go and from there, it was a rammed dancefloor with me doffing the proverbial cap to as many genres and decades as I could until 11:45 where everyone went outside to give the bride and groom a sparkler send off.

And then it was done. Packed up, went home and had a cuppa.

Easy.

People were the reason I took a long holiday. Drunk, argumentative horribly rude people.

I might comment about the odd few now & again these days but by & large they're pussycats since I escaped the clutches of Whitley Bay.

It's safe to say I love DJing now more than I ever have. I even quite like my gear & feel proud it doesn't look like a sack of when it's set up. It's still not what I want but I cant afford all that right now.

Mist is the word--it used to envelope the town right now in August---so I had to go into a Cafe and watch the very earliest video of Screaming Lord Sutch singing JACK THE RIPPER. Utterly Memorable.

This was well before the modern generation of weekend were even thought of.

Wedding last night. Again.

There were some rare sights last night: flying pigs, unicorns, Big Foot and some rather rude northerners.

Decent enough gig overall, but the audience reaction from the off was like warm at best. Doing the intro into the first dance, you could barely hear a cheer and when it came to the end of the night and I invited the guests to join the B&G for their first dance one last time, the B&G danced alone with most other people not even watching.

Ah well, Whitley Bay in the late 1990s was a slightly different animal by then. Bawdy & tacky in the extreme, and it only ever got worse. It's a shadow of its former self now though - a victim of its own overdevelopment.

I've had a few like that. I've been almost tempted to ask them to try the first dance intro again at times. My last weddings though.. OMG I wish I'd had a crowd like them at MY wedding

I'm a fully fledged member of the 'Sod all sleep' brigade and have been for years. Not sure what it is either, I just can't seem to wind down when I've been in work mode. Even tried some tablets (herbal) for it a few years ago...........still didn't work.
Bottle of wine when I get in.....lovely, goes down nicely and I may go to bed a little light headed and sleep straight away but only for a few hours solid and then that's it.........BOOM! I'm up again!

Most nights I will probably get by with 6, possibly 7 hours sleep.
When it comes to work though, well....take last night for example. Bed at Midnight (early for me) and wide awake at 4.30am and up since then. I was actually wishing the time away so that 10.00am would come around quickly so I could set up at the venue. It'll be the same tomorrow and then probably the same on Saturday and when it's all done and dusted on Saturday night I will probably find it hard to drift off as I move the following afternoon.
Thankfully I have a good 6 weeks off to try and get some sleep!

As for all of your bookings Benny, fair play to you. I agree that you should just get on and make the most of them if they don't happen like that all the time but also agree that less is more too if that makes sense.

Unprecedented feedback from the B&G already. I am actually finding midweek and Sunday weddings a lot livelier this year than in the past.
